What to do in an emergency
If you need help now, move to a safe place and choose the correct number below. A confirmation appears before the call starts.
Police
110
For crime, theft, a traffic accident, or immediate police help.
Ambulance / Fire
119
When you urgently need an ambulance, fire service, or rescue.
When the call connects, give your location first. If you do not know the address, name the station and exit, building, shop, or intersection.
Unsure about calling an ambulance? Dial #7119
In some areas such as Tokyo and Osaka, the Emergency Consultation Center (#7119) lets you ask a nurse by phone whether an ambulance is needed. If it does not connect, or if the person is unconscious or bleeding heavily, call 119 right away.
Get multilingual help during your trip
The JNTO Japan Visitor Hotline offers 24-hour support for accidents, disasters, and travel problems in English, Chinese, and Korean. It does not replace 110 or 119.
