About this site
A multilingual guide that helps foreign residents and visitors decide what to do next in Japan, even when they do not know the official name of a procedure.
Last reviewed: 2026-08-02
Purpose and audience
Guides are organized around real situations such as arrival, moving, residence cards, insurance, tax, banking, mobile service, housing, and leaving Japan. Each guide aims to show who it applies to, the deadline, what to prepare, where to go, and how to confirm completion.
Editorial and verification policy
For administrative, immigration, tax, insurance, pension, medical, and disaster topics, we prioritize primary sources from governments, municipalities, and the organization responsible for the procedure. We rewrite the essential points as actions instead of copying long official text, and show official links and review dates at the end of each guide.
Independent information service
JAPAN LIFE GUIDE is not an official website of the Japanese government, a municipality, or another public authority.
The guidance is general information and does not replace an individual immigration decision, legal or tax advice, or medical judgment. Confirm current forms, local requirements, opening hours, and decisions for your case with the responsible authority.
Updates, corrections, and advertising
Review dates and publication status are managed per guide. If you find an error or outdated detail, use Feedback and include the page and supporting source. If advertising or affiliate links are added in the future, they will be clearly labeled and will not determine how public-service information is explained.
